How do these Heat Mats work?

These heat mats maintain a consistent temperature range within your propagator of choice, giving your seedlings and cuttings the best possible start during their critical stage.

The product sits beneath your propagator and gives off heat which will maintain steady temperatures within the recommended ranges to achieve rapid plant growth and healthy root development.

Optimising the temperature within your propagator will improve your cutting success rates; you’ll also see vibrant and robust root development and generally more rapid vegging times.

The product works with Root!t Heat Mat Thermostats. If you use a thermostat, the product will automatically switch itself off when the temperatures stray out of your selected range, giving you peace of mind that your next generation of plants will have the right conditions at all times without needing to check the temperature manually.

How do I use a Heat Mat?

Using this product is as easy as simply sliding it beneath your propagator and plugging it into the mains socket. The unit is waterproof, although you should store it in a dry area for everyday use.

You should check the environment within your propagator with a thermometer or hygrometer. Turning the propagator off and on will allow you to achieve optimal day and night temperatures. Aim for approximately 25°C during the day and 18°C at night.

By controlling the product using a plug-in timer, you’ll be able to tailor the heat mat’s output to maintain optimum conditions for stimulating faster plant growth and better root development.

These products work with the separately available thermostats made by the same company. To use, plug the thermostat into the wall and your heat mat into the mains socket. Keep the thermostat outside the propagator and away from moisture, and never submerge it in water or any other liquid.

Put the probe inside the propagator and ensure it is level with the plants. If you’re using a rooting plug, you can bury the probe inside it and then put it in the tray.

You will then need to choose the appropriate temperature range settings for the propagator. You do this by holding the ‘Set’ button for 3 seconds and using the ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ buttons to select the desired range.

The product’s power LED will come on whenever the product is in use and switch off when the temperature sensed by the probe reaches the level selected. The thermostat will then automatically switch off the power to the mat.
