House & Garden Bat Mix Special 50L

House & Garden Bat Mix Special 50L is a mix of perlite, decomposed peat, bat guano and lime, providing ample aeration for plant roots, excellent drainage, stable pH and good nutritional values. It is ideal for use in hydroponic systems.

Bat Mix Special incorporates several attributes, and they include:

How does it Work?

Most of the composition of Bat Mix Special consists of decomposed peat of the German black variety and also Baltic white peat. The former has a fine consistency and provides an excellent counterpoint to the Baltic peat’s spongier and chunkier qualities. They complement each other perfectly.

Perlite is added, derived from naturally occurring volcanic glass, which is permeable so that water can easily flow through it. This feature lets nutrients drain freely through your pots, ensuring that small air pockets are left. The air pockets allow further aeration and enhance nutrient uptake, lowering the chance of root disease occurring and ensuring your plants are healthier overall, with larger yields at harvest. 

This product has added bat guano which slowly breaks down and releases macro and micronutrients, protecting the plants’ root system and helping deter fungi. Also added is a fertiliser with an initial NPK ratio of 14-16-18, bringing the EC value between 1.2 and 1.5. 

This EC value means the product is excellent when re-potting plants during the later vegetative or flowering stage when plants can all fully use this additional feed. The slowly released bat guano exerts influence as the plants grow and demand further nutrition. 

This substance is an excellent organic additive, naturally high in phosphorous, an essential element for flowering and rooting in plants. Guano is also a perfect natural taste and smell enhancer for several crop varieties.

How to use this substrate?

This product is straightforward to use. Just fill your pot and soak it with water adjusted to pH 6.5. (Check out the Bluelab pH Pen if you need a good pH meter) You should ensure that you allow ample runoff and that the undersides of the pots can drain free. Before you water again, let the soil mix get a little dry. 

Bat Mix Special is guaranteed not to contain any weeds, pests, pathogens, or nematode worms, so there’s no risk of potting any of these unwanted pests or nasty issues in your hydroponic system. 

The product has enough feed for between 3 and 4 weeks of your plants’ growth, allowing for different growth rates for various plant species.
