IWS R-DWC System

The IWS R-DWC System is an easy-to-manage system with a versatile layout. Like all DWC systems, this product enables plant roots to become highly oxygenated for incredible growth and big yields.

The plant pots become flooded with nutrient solution. When the feeding cycle stops, this drains off again, locking the O2 in the plant’s root system, fueling incredible growth and keeping unwanted root diseases at bay.

This product is ideal for use at the heart of a DWC hydroponic growing system as it includes certain worthwhile features, including the following:

  • Promotes fast rates of growth by highly oxygenating roots
  • It saves time as you only need to mix only one set of nutrients for many bubblers
  • Made by Intelligent Watering Systems, a leading UK hydroponics systems manufacturer
  • Intelligent ‘Brain Pot’ handles topping up each bubbler
  • Option of selecting a 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 or 24-pot system
  • Very versatile because of its modular design
  • Superb quality at an affordable price
  • Supplied with top quality 13mm Flexi-pipe
  • Provided with a Flexi-tank for storage and portability

How Does it Work?

This system saves you considerable effort and time while ensuring your plants achieve their full growth and healthy development potential. You can manage all your plants simultaneously because each bubbler connects to the brain and the reservoir.

R-DWC systems such as this one will deliver high levels of O2 utilising airstones, engendering plant vigour and health. Deep Water Culture systems are popular hydroponic growing methods where the plants’ roots suspend in their net pots over a highly oxygen-infused nutrient solution in what is often called a “bubbler”.

This method has a long list of advantages. You require less growing medium (only a small number of clay pebbles to support root growth in the net pot) to minimise waste.

The plants’ root systems can thrive in this highly oxygenated nutrient solution and produce excellent results with remarkable increases in yields.

When you have a large number of bubblers, though, the nutrient solution can be subject to changes quickly, so checks and maintenance can get a bit troublesome looking after each unit individually.

However, these bubbler kits solve such issues by connecting each bubbler to a reservoir tank. A float switch determines when to fill, then empty and top up each of the bubblers following a programmed schedule.

You don’t have to look after separate containers with this; you make up the nutrient solution as usual for the system’s reservoir and then let the “brain” work out the rest. Nutrients can be drawn back to the reservoir tank for lengths of time at different times each day so that the nutrient solution is mixed correctly and distributed across each of the bubblers.

How Do I Use this System?

This system is straightforward to assemble and use. You’ll need to have a sharp knife or scissors to hand, also a spanner and a suitable container of hot (but not boiling) water you can use to soften the ends of the piping so that it’s easier to fit over and onto the tee, elbow and straight connectors.

Install the controller unit and outer pots on the same surface; otherwise, the product may underfill or overfill the pots.

You’ll need to assemble the Flexi-tank, a quick and easy process. You unfold and open up the waterproof outer, insert the supporting poles and then fit the feet to the undersides of each pole.

Never refill the tank while the bubbler buckets are filling because doing so will draw water back to the reservoir, which may overflow beyond its capacity.

When you’ve set up this system, you’ll be the proud owner of a most useful hydroponic system. But it does need to be kept clean; in particular, you’ll need to ensure that there are no nasty build-ups of salts; you can do this very easily by using a product such as Dutchpro Keep It Clean.

Watch out for anything that may cause water damage because even with the most carefully set up system, accidents can happen, resulting in a large amount of water spilling onto the floor.

This product doesn’t need water level indicators because the “brain” looks after this for you. If you want to add water level indicators, it’s always possible to customise your outer pots by making separate holes and putting in individual glands and elbows to accommodate them.
