How do they Work?

The cubes arrive in a tray of ready-made Rockwool plugs designed to propagate seedlings and cuttings quickly. This propagation facility is excellent for fast rooting and good, strong growth; each cutting or seedling gets its chance to thrive in its infant form before being transferred into the mature hydroponic system.

How to Use?

For optimal results, it’s best to soak these cubes in a very weak nutrient solution (or even in water) with a pH adjusted to about 5.5, then leave them overnight. Shake out any excess nutrient solution before use.

You can insert your cuttings or seedlings into the pre-punched holes into these pre-soaked cubes. When the roots have started, you may transfer them to a suitable hydroponic medium such as coco or a larger Rockwool cube.

Ideally, put the tray of cubes in a propagator. Always choose healthy shoots from which to take your cuttings and use a sterile scalpel. Dip the cut end into rooting powder or gel such as Doff Natural Rooting Powder before placing it into each rooting plug or cube.

Put the lid on the propagator when you’ve finished taking the cuttings, and move to a milder environment several inches away from a grow lamp.

Always keep the rooting cubes moist. It’s a good idea to mist them and your cuttings two or three times every day. Roots will begin to appear on the outside of the cubes after a few days. This moment is the time to open the propagator lid’s ventilation slots and reduce the humidity.

Once the roots of the cuttings appear through the cubes, they can then be transplanted to larger Rockwool cubes or a suitable medium within your hydroponic system and take your plants from there.

Pro Tip: These products work very well for the majority of plants. It’s recommended to pre-soak the cubes in a quarter-strength nutrient solution immediately before use. Use a rooting powder or gel (in the manner described above) and Canna Rhizotonic, which will help the cutting establish a sound, healthy root system.
