Canna Cannazym

Canna Cannazym is an enzyme that increases dead root materials’ breakdown rate and allows healthy new roots to grow in their place.

Cannazym accelerates the breakdown of dead root material because it contains beneficial microorganisms that keep the substrate well aerated, making it suitable for use with any growing medium. It should only be added to the feeding solution from the second week of cultivation and used every time you water.

How does it Work?

As substrate dries out, it sends out more root hairs, enabling it to continue absorbing water and consuming more nutrients; when you water the plant, it doesn’t need as many root hairs, so it sheds some of the oldest. Dead roots provide an ideal environment for moulds, other fungi and bacteria.

Cannazym consists of an enzyme complex with two main functioning elements, Pectinase and Endocellulase. Pectinase is an enzyme that enables the Pectin to break down (Pectin is like the glue that holds the plant cells together). The remaining enzymes break down cellulose after the breaking down of Pectin. A cell wall surrounds each cell, and the endocellulase breaks down these walls in the dead root hair, enabling the cell’s contents to be released. Once the enzymes have broken down the root hair, microorganisms can absorb the nutrients quickly and convert them into minerals and sugars for new root hairs to absorb. An air pocket is left where the root hair was, helping maintain the substrate’s condition, increase aeration and prevent pot-binding. Oxygen is essential for plant roots, enabling them to breathe, take in water, and absorb nutrients. It is also crucial for the beneficial microorganisms responsible for a healthy substrate.

How to Use?

Hydroponic experts use Cannazym when re-using their growing media for a subsequent cycle. Leftover dead roots break down rapidly and transform into essential nutrients which improve aeration and help prevent disease. As a result, the condition of the substrate is optimal for growth during the following season.

• Always shake the bottle well before using.
• Dilute into the water at a rate of 2.5ml per litre.
• Add to the nutrient solution at each watering or nutrient reservoir each time you top it up.
• Canna recommend doubling the dosage for a month when re-using your growing media.
• Use your prepared solution within four days.
• Avoid using it with products that contain Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2).
• Store in a safe, dark, frost-free location.
