Philips Master Colour CDM-TP MW 315w 942 Lamp
The Philips Master Colour CDM-TP MW 315w 942 Lamp produces a superb light with brilliant intensity, providing much more natural light for your hydroponic grow room or tent.
It is ideal for both standalone and supplementary lighting, depending on the requirements of your growing space. The lamp also gives you an extra boost in the blue part of the spectrum, which is perfect for growth during the vegetative stage. It is highly efficient, generating 1.7 umol per watt of electricity and excellent PAR levels.
Ceramic Discharge Metal Halide (CDM) lamps can often produce a much broader spectrum of light when compared with standard metal halides or HPS lamps, and this particular product has a few handy features:
- Brilliant light with a bluer light spectrum
- 1.7 micromoles (µmol) per Watt
- Incredible effect on plants during their vegetative stage
How Does This Lamp Work?
This product is a full-spectrum lamp with extra blue light, which caters to your plant’s vegetative stage. It has a blinding intensity visible to the naked eye.
The light colour spectrum comprises many different colours (or wavelengths). For plant growth, the preferred wavelength is between 400nm and 700nm (this wavelength range is the PAR range). Though they do not promote growth, wavelengths outside the PAR range (such as UVA, UVB, infra-red and far-red) are essential for plant health.
Different types of lamps emit different wavelength ranges, and therefore they tend to be used for other purposes, as follows:
- HID lamps tend to emit wavelengths inside the PAR range for growth.
- LEP lamps tend to emit wavelengths outside the PAR range for flowering.
- CDM lamps tend to emit wavelengths that fall somewhere in between the two above.
How Do I Use this Lamp?
Many growers use this lamp and its sister lamp, the Philips Master Colour CDM-TP MW 315w 930 Lamp, to provide fantastic development in the vegetative and flowering stages of plant growth.
To change the bulb, you should hold it with a clean cloth and screw it into the bulb holder, fitting the reflector and turning until no further turning is possible.
Screw the lamp into the holder as firmly as possible. Failure to do this may cause arcing inside the holder, which will probably melt the solder contact, damaging it irreparably.
Ensure that the lamp is clean and free of dirt, grease, fingerprints, etc., before switching it on.
Please note that when HID (high-intensity discharge) lamps are on, they will run very hot. As with bulbs of this type, you should avoid touching the lamp with anything; fingers or plants may become severely burned, or fires may start. In particular, you should prevent sprays or liquids from coming into contact with any part of the lamp – this might cause failure or even bring about an explosion.
