The SMSCom Hybrid Controller 8A Mk2 is a fan speed controller that combines mechanical operation with cutting edge digital technology to produce a completely silent, very accurate twin fan temperature and speed controller.

It is ideal for use in hydroponic growing systems. There is absolutely no buzzing or humming from your fans with this controller, thanks to the components that do not use pulse width modulation (PWM) to regulate fan output.

This unit has an additional program to regulate fans to remove excess and unwanted humidity from your growing area during the dark cycle (i.e. when the night is detected). When the grow lights switch off, it automatically switches to this other programme which, every hour, gently increases the speed of the fans for just about long enough to get rid of any excess humidity from your grow room or grow tent.

This slight variation sounds almost insignificant, but it will often be the deciding factor that will prevent rot and mould from developing. This innovative secondary programme may be switched on or off at any time so that you can choose to use this function whenever you like and at any stage of the growing cycle.

Experienced growers will know to use this at the first sign of mould or rot. When the lights are back on again at the end of the dark cycle, the unit switches back to the main operating programme.

How does the Controller Work?

The 8A Hybrid Controller is easy to operate. You connect your fans and then position the probe and light sensor within the room, usually in the middle. Then you set the lowest speed for both your duct fans and set the required temperature. The unit will now sustain your temperature by automatically regulating your fans between their lowest and the unit’s highest settings.
