How Does The Air Pump Work?
These products will pump air through an airline and into an airstone you submerge in your tank or reservoir. Or use them to drive a Waterfarm or Aquafarm.
The air draws in on the unit’s underside and is then pushed out again by an oscillating diaphragm, which it forces through the nozzle outlet(s) on the front of the product.
They generate tremendous air pressure considering these products’ small and compact nature, and the airflow is reliable and steady. They are substantial little, hard-working pumps.
The ACO series of pumps use the best quality materials. They have rubber feet to ensure noise is always kept to a low level (less than 40dB) while running, and the power consumption is also comparatively very low, rated at only 1.8 watts.
The ACO range of pumps caters to a whole range of power requirements and sizes of the growing system, and all models are very economical to buy and run.
How Do I Use An Air Pump?
Place your Hailea Air Pump near the reservoir you want to aerate on a flat, firm surface. Ensure the pump is above the water level of the tank or reservoir. Attach the airline to the output nozzle of the pump and slide it across the textured ridge guides so that it is held firmly in place. If you notice that it has become difficult to put the airline on, you may have to soften the end of the airline with some warm water to make it more flexible.
Select your airstone and fit it onto the airline’s other end, then place this in the reservoir. Keeping the airline as short as you can is the best policy because the longer the airline is, the lower will be the air pressure within it (as it will have a greater volume of space to accommodate).
Plug your pump into the mains electricity and switch it on. Immediately the pump will pull air from its underside, out through the airline’s nozzle and then the airstone.
Always keep the pump at a height above the waterline inside your reservoir. Otherwise, water could siphon back from your tank into the pump, which will inevitably cause a certain amount of damage. For this reason, the manufacturers recommend using a check valve (a one-way or non-return valve) in your airline to make sure that any such back-siphoning will not be able to occur.
