Charles Austen Enviro Series Linear Air Pump

The Charles Austen Enviro Series Linear Air Pump provides the user with a clean, oil-free air source. It has the distinction of being extremely low noise while operating and free of vibration. This range of air pumps is ideal for continuous work and is well known for their reliability and robust engineering.

This product is ideal for use in hydroponic growing systems as they have several attributes and features, including:

  • Made by well-known and trusted engineers Charles Austen
  • Able to move up to 200 litres of air per minute, depending on model
  • Works at a low noise level for the output generated
  • Very quiet while working: noise output, as only 35dB, makes it the most silent linear pump in its class
  • Known throughout the industry for their reliability
  • Compact and robust construction
  • Affords energy-efficient motors using low power consumption due to Green Drive technology
  • It comes supplied with a rubber elbow to make fitting easier
  • Works well in pond aeration or water treatment systems
  • Ideal for indoor and outdoor applications because of its weatherproof design
  • Fully compatible with Charles Austen service kits which help to prolong the pump’s lifespan
  • Oil-free design: these are ideal for either intermittent or continuous use
  • No wearing parts mean no reduction in performance
  • 2 Year manufacturer’s UK Warranty
  • UL and CE approved

All the pumps in the Enviro series are thermally protected, and there is a safety cut-out feature that automatically engages to stop the motor if a diaphragm failure is detected. This safety measure avoids continued damage to other parts. Complete maintenance and operation instructions are in the box.

How Does The Linear Air Pump Work?

The Linear Air Pump runs very quietly, and this is despite the raw power that they have in moving air. They can be used with, and be connected to, several airstones using a manifold.

The air pumps in this range are high-quality examples of precision engineering for any user seeking the best in air movement for their hydroponic setup.

This range of products is ideal for oxygenating nutrient reservoirs and tanks. Air pumps of this sort are typically put to work in deep water culture (DWC) systems and Water Farms and Aqua Farms, although nutrient tanks in any setup can benefit from oxygenation.

This range of air pumps can move at least 30 litres every minute, while the larger and more powerful models can drive air at the rate of up to 200 litres per minute using an airline tube and airstones submerged in water or nutrient solution.

How Do I Use The Linear Air Pump?

Place the Air Pump in a raised area supported by a suitable stand and above the waterline of the reservoir. This precaution removes any possibility that water could flow back towards the pump if the product is switched off accidentally or because of a power outage.

Having check valves in place is a further safety precaution that the manufacturers recommend.

Splice the airline and use the two barbed inlet/outlet points on the unit’s check valve to join it again. The black end needs joining to the airline tubing, which comes from the pump, while the clear end needs fixing to the airline, which travels out towards the airstone(s).

If you need to connect the pump to a regular-sized 4mm diameter airline tubing, you’ll need to buy a manifold.

Connect the L-shaped tubing component to the air outlet, attach the manifold to the rubber tubing, and ensure it’s secured using the two clips.

Manifolds are available in several different sizes according to the number of airstones you want to supply. Each has a different number of 4mm outlets, so they can open or close by using their valves; this affords you a large amount of control over the air direction.

You should connect 4mm airline tubes of an appropriate length to the manifold’s outlets and place airstones at or into the ends of each one. Keep the airlines as short as possible because the air pressure will lower the longer they are.

Please note: Never immerse the pump in water under any circumstances.
