Luxx Lighting 645W LED Pro

The Luxx Lighting 645W LED Pro has an automatic adjustment, allowing the user to dim the power to 40% for lower photon intensity with unaffected spectrum quality.

The engineers at Luxx built the 645w LED Pro based on design, test and repeat. It was brought through development by testing SMD (surface mount device) chips and drivers sourced from top manufacturers under controlled test conditions and facilities for more than three years.

It’s an ideal lighting fixture for the more serious hydroponic growing system, and its design will work even in the smallest grow tents. This LED Grow Light features several attributes, and these include:

  • It comprises six bars in an array for a perfectly balanced footprint
  • It has an impressive output of 2.67μmols per watt
  • 10ft 240v cord with a 240-110v plug adapter
  • Listed with UL/ETL
  • Plug and Play design
  • It works with the Luxx NX-1 controller for superb control
  • Manual and auto-dimming options
  • Optimised for excellent service in a 1.2m x 1.2m grow tent
  • Rated IP66 waterproof
  • 5-year manufacturer’s warranty for peace of mind

How Does it Work?

This LED Grow Light uses components including Samsung horticulture whites and Osram reds. These companies are market leaders in research and development in this sector and consistently deliver reliability, high efficiency and good diode performance.

This lamp uses a lens angle of 120 degrees and has a 6-bar array layout; there is a total of 2,226 diodes. The light offers both manual and automatic power adjustment. It can deliver the flexibility to dim the lamp to 40% of total power to achieve lower photon intensity, and it does this without compromising the quality of the colour spectrum.

How to Use?

When cultivating using LED lighting, growers may wish to use a similar method to HPS cultivation. This method could lead to poor results because of the environmental differences, higher lighting levels and the subsequent greater photosynthetic rates, which trigger plant growth with far less room for error.

The heat created by a bulb also helps burn off any latent load (RH), and this doesn’t occur with a properly constructed LED array, which diffuses heat across the environment. This process can create a more balanced result but also cause higher humidity. And with LEDs, more energy goes into light than heat.

The higher light levels increase photosynthetic rates, leading to more transpiration and demand for feed solution, adding much more water into your growing room.

At this stage, you’d need a dehumidifier, but when looking for the right one, you should always try to match the dehumidification potential with the volume of the water added in all these ways.

With LED’s, it’s pretty safe to assume that the most significant water demand on any given day is 1 gallon for each square foot of your canopy. Although the daily water demand will be less than this in practice and will depend on your pot size, type of cultivar and the age of your plants. So, for example, a two-week plant will need less water than a plant that is six weeks old. It’s a good idea to use a quality PAR meter that measures PPFD (in umol) to understand just how much light they give to your plants.
